Retouching is carried out on areas of losses or abrasions in a painted surface. Its role is to return the image to a visually acceptable and coherent state. Retouching is carried out using a reversible and stable medium that will not discolour over time. Usually it is a combination of a highgrade, stable binding medium and good quality dry pigments.
Lion and Tiger carries out retouching in a minimal way and to the level that is absolutley necessary.
Losses to the paint layer are usually treated by filling them with a filling material, also called putty, that is composed of a binding agent and filler. The putty may be toned with pigments if necessary. To blend with the surrounding paint layer it is important to level and structure the surface of the fill.
